My name is Hanna Hunter. Some of my friends call me Hanna "House" Hunter! How I got here...
One day I had an epiphany. It was time to make a change in my life and I started by educating myself in various property investment strategies.
In October 2018, the government launched a Policy paper titled,
"Our Plan for the high street: Budget 2018 brief".
Having read this document I started educating myself on how to invest in local town centres.
This made me realise the opportunity. I starting to hear stories in the community about the death of the high street and I also realised that there were many retailers disappearing. My earliest recollection of this was C&A!
You too may remember C&A or even Woolworths. I remember going to Woolies on a Saturday many moons ago for everything from CDs, batteries to sweets to toys and more.
Today, the major supermarkets and the internet have taken over and Woolworths disappeared a few years ago.
Then there was Blockbusters, the place where we used to pick up a VHS video or two on a Friday night, order and collect Pizza and settle down in our house to "Film-night Friday". You will have noticed that although Blockbuster has disappeared, the pizza places and many like it are still here and thriving.
Fast forward 2019, the high street is going through a readjustment and a realignment which will ultimately lead to a positive metamorphosis.

We say, the high street is simply evolving. The shopping (or retail) experience is maturing. Just as a child moves from baby to toddler to teen and on to adulthood, the market place, as we know it, is simply changing.
Amazon has disrupted the once solid frontier of UK retail.
Those who didn’t change have long left, Woolworths, BHS, Blockbuster, HMV, Toys R Us and many more. According to Retail Research, in 2018 alone 43 medium or large retail businesses went bust. This included 2,594 stores affecting 46,014 employees. That's a lot of stores and people affected by the new landscape of retail.
Today we see the emergence of the new high street, mainly made up of Amazon proof businesses.
It’s change or die!
